Since I’m starting this website in June 2025, I want to showcase what I’ve read in the previous months of 2025! Rather than make a separate post for each month, I think it’s easier to combine them all so it’s all in one place. Each title is hyperlinked to the StoryGraph page; simply click on it to view the cover and the synopsis!

Favourite of each month:
Trying to pick a favourite from the new 5 stars reads is always a bitch, but I like to look back at the year and see which book outshined every other book I read each month!
January: Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir (Sarah, I know you’ll scream about this 😉 thank you for forcing me to read it finally)
February: The In-Between Bookstore by Edward Underhill
March: Tempest, Take Me Home by Charlie Knight
April: Babel by R.K. Kuang
May: Pantomime by L.R. Lam (May was the hardest to pick an overall favourite!! I love this rewrite; I loved the original version, but this rewrite just brought a whole new love for me!)
Least favourite of each month:
I also like to keep track of the flops from each month. I usually find I don’t rate books lower than 3 because I KNOW my taste (a 3 is still a book I recommend because it was fun and I enjoyed it!). I pick books I think I’ll enjoy. But, sometimes there are heavyyyyyy flops (like 1-2 star worthy). So here are the least favourites from each month!
January: The Dark Tide by Alicia Jasinska (2 stars; don’t recommend)
February: The Forbidden Books by Sacha Lamb (3 stars; still a great book!)
March: Dreadnought by April Daniels (3 stars; I had my issues with this book, my review on StoryGraph lists them, but overall I do still recommend this book!)
April: Boyfriends by refrainbow (1 star; I DO NOT recommend this book)
May: tie between Notes From a Regicide by Isaac Fellman (3 stars; this was good! Just way too literary and not enough science fiction for me to fully enjoy) and In Your Nature by Estlin McPhee (3 stars; overall good poetry collection, but the HP reference threw me the fuck out of it! Can we leave HP in the dust or what? Stop referencing the TERF garbage human being!)
One response to “What I read in January-May”
